August 5th: The Arrival: From Poland, 9 bikers arrive in New Delhi Indra Gandhi Airport exactly at 11:50pm Me along side Maciek were waiting anxiously to welcome them. Once we all met up and greeted each other, the clock struck 00:00:00 and it was August 6th Well, It was my birthday but no one was aware of except for Maciek. He spoke something in Polish and every one started singing a song. Now what song was it, obviously it was a birthday song that they sang. Even though we were world apart, we knew nothing about each other, only thing that united us was Biker Brotherhood across the world. Which attracted us into same platform. The birthday song they sang in the middle of the airport could be heard almost every where. Simple the gesture of friendship was all that was needed for us to maintain our relationship. Day one Log [7th August] Maciek calls up and I was working that day, in the office I had to give some excuse to go out and after a short delay I finally got permission to attend the meeting between me and Poland Adventurers. I left the office by 2pm and reached Gurgoan by 2:40pm to catch up with the guys. They were unpacking their motorcycles and getting their stuff together. We wasted no time to get back on track. Our plan was that 10 of us would be leaving by mid noon or early evening and reach Shimla by night. Once all the unpacking was done and bikes were ready to rumble, we setoff the road. I was helping them get out of the city and guide them to National Highways 1. It was evening hours and the road from Gurgaon to Delhi would be jammed with heavy traffic as usual. All the bikes roaring down the road and people could not stop gazing at these amazing machines, most of them tried stopping us to ask what the mileage these bikes gave and how could these bike work on Indian roads. Well as far as I go, I could not stop laughing at it as so many people would cover us all every place we stopped. I dropped them at Kurnal road [ NH 1 ] We reached there by 8pm and was getting really late. |
